I love summer because we get to travel and see family.

In July, Rick, Mathen & I flew to Chicago and were picked up by Doug & Shae and taken to Valparaiso, IN. We stayed with Rick's grandparents for a few days and had an amazing time. Rick's sister Jaymie and her two kids Hunter & Bailey also came in from Omaha so we sort of had our own little family reunion. Then Doug & Shae flew with Mathen to Omaha. This was so hard for me to let my baby boy go. I never knew how much it was going to hurt until we dropped them all off at the airport. I gave hugs/kisses to Doug & Shae and I was fine. Then I bent down to kiss Mathen bye and the tears started flooding down my cheeks. I had to run back to the car and I couldn't look back and then I continued to cry for the next 20 mins or so off and on. Rick is amazing and he let me cry and attempt to talk HAHA and we knew all would be fine. Rick & I enjoyed the adult time we had with his grandparents and we went to the Indiana Dunes and I fell in love. We are going back at least once a year because it was incredible.

Rick & I worked a volleyball camp at Univ. of Illinois and had a great time seeing friends and enjoying us. We missed Mathen dearly but we would get calls/text saying "all is well" and we both relaxed and cherished "our time." When camp was over, Rick & I drove (we had his mom's car) back to Omaha. It was an ok drive but we were exhausted but also anxious to see our baby. When we arrived we pulled in to the drive where Doug & Mathen were sitting/waiting in the garage. I hopped out of the car and said "HI MATHEN!!" He got off of grandpa's lap and started running to me so I ran and grabbed him up in my arms. Needless to say I had tears of joy at that moment. We then turned and I told Mathen to go get daddy...he ran to Rick and we all hugged each other!! My camera was dead but I will always remember that day.

We stayed at Rick's parents for another day and a half until we all flew back home. We had a great time and as you can see we made some great memories.
