WOW...time flies when you are having fun!!
OK, so I know I need to blog more often but who would have thought that a new baby would make you lose track of time as well as sleep HA HA.
Well, Mathen is officially 2 months old and as of 6/30/08 he weighs 14 lbs 2 oz and is 22 1/2 in. The doctor was very impressed with his weight gain and his overall tone. This is good news considering he wasn't gaining weight for the first couple of weeks.
Rick and I are truly blessed to have a son (first time I have said that word) that is mild tempered. Don't get me wrong, he will let you know if he is hungry or just wants a change of scenery. I do have to brag a little...since 5wks, Mathen sleeps a good 5-6 hrs at night. Last night 7/1/08 he actually slept from 12am-8am (yes he only goes to sleep after midnight and Rick & I are actually getting used to it). As you can see in the picture, he has found his smile and he loves to show it off. It really makes me smile when I go to get him from his crib and all of a sudden he sees me and this huge smile comes on his face. I AM A MOM and I LOVE IT :) Words can't express what motherhood means...you truly have to experience it.
Here are some updated pictures...

I know they are not labeled but look at the time stamp and use your imagination (I barely found time to write this HA HA). These pictures show us and our travels. We have already been to Indiana and back for a Cousin's wedding when Mathen was 5 wks. He was able to see the whole Hughes' Family!!! We have also been to my families house a few times.
We are very excited about seeing the rest of Rick's family in July. I will have to post more pictures b/c Mathen will go on his first plane ride July 26th.
Hope to post more soon...Have a BLESSED 4th!!! Rick, Randi & Mathen Hughes

Hey Everyone :)
Just in case you haven't heard...Mathen Douglas Hughes was born April 24, 2008. He was 8 lbs. 14 oz. and 20 1/4 in. Rick and I can't believe he is finally here and so thankful to God for giving us this bundle of joy. We are all doing very well and are really enjoying getting to know each other. Babies are so helpless, you find yourself constantly wondering what they need (crying or not crying). We were approached today and asked what we have learned by becoming parents...patience! You have to have it and some days it does seem that you have more than you could have ever imagined.
We hope to see everyone within the next few months and if not then we will try to get pictures to everyone.
